Tragically, the missing submersible, named Titan, has been confirmed to have suffered a “catastrophic implosion,” resulting in the loss of all five individuals on board. The U.S. Coast Guard made this grim announcement, marking the somber conclusion to the extensive international search efforts. The submersible had embarked on a voyage to explore the Titan, a location of great interest.
The distress call was initially made to the U.S. Coast Guard on Sunday by the command ship of the submersible, reporting a loss of contact with the vessel approximately 900 miles (1,450 kilometers) east of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. In response, the U.S. Navy launched an extensive search operation to locate the missing submersible.
As per available information, the ill-fated Titan carried a group of five individuals. Among them were a British adventurer, a French diver, a Pakistani father and son, as well as the founder of OceanGate Expeditions. OceanGate Expeditions was the company responsible for organizing the tour to explore the wreckage of the Titanic.
