The Litro Gas Company will release one million domestic gas cylinders to the market in the next 10-days, Theshara Jayasinghe, the Chairman of Litro Gas said.
Another ship carrying 3600 metric tonnes of Gas is set to reach Sri Lanka on Thursday (Mar. 24), Jayasinghe said told News 1st.
According to the Litro Gas Chairman, the unloading process of the shipment that reached the country on Wednesday (Mar. 23) has concluded adding that the shipment is now being released to the market.
Around 100,000 domestic gas cylinders are being released to the market daily by Litro Gas.
However, according to the company, it would take at least another week for the shortage to be resolved and queues at Gas Distribution Centres to end.
People were seen standing in queues to purchase Gas in various parts of the country, on Wednesday (23) night as well.

NEW YORK, (Reuters); Oil prices tumbled more than 6% on Tuesday (15) to their lowest in almost three weeks, as Russia suggested it would allow a revival of the Iran nuclear deal to go forward and as traders worried growing pandemic lockdowns in China could dent demand.
Both Brent and U.S. crude futures benchmark settled below $100 per barrel for the first time since late February. Since reaching 14-year highs on March 7, Brent has slid nearly $40 and WTI more than $30. Trading has been extremely volatile since Russia invaded Ukraine more than two weeks ago.
During the session, Brent futures plummeted $6.99, or 6.5%, to settle at $99.91 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude fell $6.57, or 6.4%, to settle at $96.44 a barrel. Brent fell as low as $97.44 and WTI hit $93.53, their lowest since Feb. 25.
COLOMBO (News 1st); The Samagi Jana Balaweagaya is due to stage a protest in Colombo today (15) under the theme ‘Let’s save the country from destruction’.
The protest is scheduled to begin at 2.00 pm, and a group including the Samagi Sevaka Sangamaya, Samagi Vanitha Balawegaya, civil society organizations and university lecturers are expected to participate in the protest.
SJB MP Harin Fernando stated that one protest will commence from Opposite the Colombo Public Library at 01:00 p.m. while the other will take off from Opposite Maligawatte Police Station at the same time.
SJB MP S.M. Marikkar stated that the prevailing situation will push parents to be forced to become criminals in order to provide for their children, as people cannot stand queues anymore.
“While a whole country suffers, one family doesn’t show even the slightest bit of compassion. Which is why TODAY we begin our fight to oust this government which shows little regard to the woes of the people. No matter what threats or obstacles come our way, we will bring 100,000 thousand people to Colombo. Nothing will stop us,” he said.
